Arts Etobicoke: Intersections – Knitting Workshop with Maria Teresa Peña
Artist Maria Teresa Peña, featured in Arts Etobicoke’s Intersections: Threads of Tradition and Identity – Gender and Sexual Identity exhibition, hosted a hands-on knitting workshop at the Cloverdale Common. Participants were invited to take part in a collective action: knitting “granny squares” that joined together into a single communal piece. they reclaimed time for themselves while learning new techniques, sharing ideas, and inspiring one another. Collective knitting is a transformative act—it fosters friendship, builds lasting bonds, and creates a deep sense of belonging.
